Does your love conjure up the image of majesty, pomp and circumstance, long flowing gowns and lavish gala dinners? Then you should consider buying a Marquise Cut Diamond Engagement Rings. It’s such and exciting cut and a beautiful stone can send shivers through you whenever time you look at it.
The marquise diamond engagement ring is crowned by a gorgeous 56 facet diamond. The marquise diamond is elongated with pointed ends… Legend has it the Marquise cut was inspired by the smile of the Marquise de Pompadour and created for Frances Louis XIV.
The Marquise cut has hidden charms… not unlike the woman owning and wearing it… a Marquise diamond faces up larger on a woman’s hand and also flatters the fingers by making them look long and slender when placed in ring. | Buying a Marquise cut diamond engagement ring | Are you thinking of buying a Marquise cut diamond? Pay special attention to the diamond’s proportions. The recommended ration of length to width of a marquise cut diamond is between 2 to 1. A length over 2.00 can make the diamond look like a sliver of a diamond. Less than 1.50 in length can give it a stubby appearance.
Another factor in choosing your stone is the “bow-tie effect”. That is typical of marquise diamond engagement rings… it’s visibility is dependent upon how well the stone is cut.

Dejah Dorantes (12/31/2008) | I have a 23-diamond 10th anniversary wedding ring, and the star of the show is the unique marquise center stone. It does have the correct proportions, and, as you mentioned, longer and slimmer does make them look sliver-ish, and too chubby doesn't do the gem justice, it makes the stone much less elegant. Properly cut, it is quite regal I recall long before I was married working for a manager who was given a marquise solitaire for her engagement, and alwyas hoping I would be given one myself!
When you surround it with graduated-size round stones to gracefully frame it and complement it, it's even more striking.
