| | My Karaoke King. | | Jo and Arni have been going out together for years so it was only natural that they include marriage into their immediate plans. Both wanted to have their wedding reception at a certain hotel because when they first laid eyes on the venue, they immediately envisioned themselves enjoying their wedding day in the place. However, money was quite short and the hotel was expensive so they decided to tie the knot in two years so that they could have enough tucked away for that special day. One evening, Jo told Arni that they were meeting a bunch of friends in a local karaoke bar. When they got there, the staff greeted them warmly – more warmly than usual. The receptionist asked if they were joining a group of friends and Arni said yes and gave the room number. As they neared the room, Jo made a sudden turn, pulled her hand and led her to another room, making the excuse that he wanted to see the features of the other karaoke rooms. Arni got the shock of her life when Jo opened the door – the room was so full of balloons and in the wall was another set of balloons that spelled out “Baby, will you marry me”? Jo went down on his knees and sang “All My Life”, their special song. After he was done, he presented Arni with a velvet box – inside was a beautiful ring but what made it more special was the piece of paper under the jewel. It was a receipt for the hotel they were eyeing – Jo had already made a payment for the ballroom, fulfilling both their dreams. Overwhelmed with love, Arni could only say yes. They were married a year after that fateful night. | |
| Forever started with a kiss. |
A local toothpaste brand held a yearly Valentine kissing festival, wherein thousands of couples trooped down to a designated venue and simultaneously kiss their partners at the stroke of midnight. However, February 12, 2006 was different because one man dared to do what no one has – propose to his girlfriend onstage, in front of thousands of strangers. Five minutes before 12, he managed to get up on stage and put his plan to action. The hosts of the event asked him what he was doing there and he said that he just had one question to ask. At that moment, he pulled out a ring from the back pocket of his jeans, held it up and looked directly at his girlfriend who was in the front row and asked her to marry him. The crowd hooted and clapped and egged the surprised girlfriend to go onstage to allow the guy to slip the ring on her finger. And just like clockwork, they sealed their deal with a kiss – at the stroke of midnight. |
